I have been a life long NY Rangers fan residing in Binghamton NY. (Used to be the AHL affiliate of the Rangers before they moved to Hartford).
I would like to know why we are in the tv territory of the Buffalo Sabres. I have been watching the Rangers on tv since the 60's when they were on WOR channel 9 from NY. I used to have the NHL package from direc tv just so I can watch the Rangers. But because of the economic times I couldn't afford the package this season. Now I can't watch my Rangers. Why are we in the Buffalo TV zone. Binghamton is closer to NYC than Buffalo. This has always been Rangers country. They used to put on the Ranger games when they didn't conflict with Buffalo games. Today was such a case but the Ranger game was still blacked out. WHY!?!?!?! And the NHL on Versus. Bad idea from the start. Direc TV was forced to take Versus of their system. How many viewers nationally did the NHL lose there. The NHL TV policy baffles me. They want to promote the sport, they should make it possible to view as may games as possible, NO BLACKOUTS!!! The only time I watch the Sabres is when they are playing the Rangers. The NHL TV policy needs to be rehashed. We have the greatest game in the world. They always talk about promoting the sport to the most people. They should lift the blackout rule, the Sabre fans will still watch, but the Ranger, Islander and Devil fans in the area will watch more hockey and we'll talk to more people about the sport. Yes I know alot of Islander and Devil fans that are also frustated with this policy. Now get the NHL back on ESPN where it belongs. You will reach alot more fans. That's all rant over.
