Less than 24 hours after announcing the re-signings of both center Evgeni Malkin and defenseman Brooks Orpik, Pens' GM Ray Shero added Ruslan Fedotenko and Miroslav Satan to the mix, and signed Marc-Andre Fleury to a seven-year deal.
The Rangers continued their remodeling by agreeing to terms with five-time All-Star Markus Naslund on a two-year deal and defenseman Dmitri Kalinin on a one-year pact. The deals likely spell the end of Jaromir Jagr's tenure with the Rangers.
With Brian Campbell gone to Chicago, the San Jose Sharks bolstered their defense by signing free agent Rob Blake to a one-year contract. Blake has more than 700 career points and has scored more goals than any active NHL defenseman.

SHS may be a little slow . . .
to get into the free-agent fray. But I think this is the best move so far in the free-agent market!
I’d take Rob Blake over almost any other defenseman in the ENTIRE league. There was just no reason at all to believe that Mr. Blake would move.
I’ve got a whole new respect for the SHS Suits.
“ . . . when the Kings didn’t contact Blake in the first few days of free agency, the Sharks quickly grabbed their rivals’ captain to mentor their young defensemen . . .” I wish bflo. would think like this. He’s a bit long in the tooth, but so what? It’s a one year commitment that might actually provide immediate rewards in a Cup run. And in the long run – well after Mr. Blake is gone and forgotten – will definitely benefit any of the young SHS players who are lucky enough to skate with him.
BRILLIANT!
GO SABS!!!

YEAH!!!!
We signed Rob Blake!!!! Just think of the Defensive Twin Towers we can now throw out there with Rob Blake & Kyle McLaren! PLUS – Blake gives us a booming shot from the point which we did not have and even Campbell didn’t provide us!

hey
thanks for dropping by!
I can’t tell when people are on.
I know you guys wanted to keep Campbell but do you think that the price was too steep for SJ to match? It doesn’t quite seem totally about money in this instance to me anyway… I think Pavelski is an awesome player that is only going to get better so I think that was a big save by the Sharks and keeping Jody is big too!! Gotta have someone who can put another team in their place when things chippy nay?
So who do you think they’ll go after to fill the role of Campbell now?
