I have suffered through a very non-hockey watching weekend on account of visiting friends who don’t like hockey (bizarre but true). So, here I am, ostensibly at work, trying to catch up on the activity over the last few days and what do I find???


Sabres lose to the Rangers 5-1

Sharks lose to the Rangers 3-1

Sabres lose to Pittsburgh 4-1

Sharks lose to the Islanders 3-2

What?

The Sabres are like the Cubs. They toy with their fans. They get our hopes up, they make us believe and then they collapse in flames like the Hindenberg. Okay, that might be a trifle extreme, but they have allowed the Bruins to catch back up. We need a win tomorrow – Let’s Go Buffalo!

And then there are the Sharks. The Sharks who are just brilliant at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. I think they’ve mistaken the second period for nap time. One game they’re awesome, the next they’re pod people. They might (maybe even probably will) make the playoffs but only because there are a bunch of teams in the West who are playing even worse. C’mon guys! Go Sharks!
