What, me worry?
Monday April 28, 2008 @ 05:53 PM EDT
I had this overwhelming urge to bury myself head first in the sand after watching the Sharks/Stars game last night. Not only would I relish the anonymity just now, but I wouldn’t have to hear whispers of ”sweep” coming from the general direction of Texas.
This is what I get for being so convinced that the Sharks would not do to their fans again this post-season what they did last post-season – play terrible hockey. Okay, maybe terrible is too strong a word, maybe just mostly awful in certain games. Here’s the thing, I know we’re going to lose games. How fun would it be to watch if we knew the winner beforehand? But there’s losing and there’s losing. A team can go down with a good fight, playing their best and just not quite making the grade. Or, a team can go down not living up to its potential. The Sharks are playing the latter.
There really is some mystery about the Sharks inability to remain consistent. One game they play tight, smart hockey and the next (Sunday, for example), they’re all over the place, giving up the puck, making bad passes, not taking shots when they should. Even Thornton, the poster boy for consistency during the regular season, seems flat to me. And here’s another thing, how – in a second round playoff series – can a team be so emotionally flat and uninvolved? Where’s the fire? Where’s the desire? Is it my imagination or did the Sharks seem, last night at least, like they’d mentally lost the game before it started?
C’mon, guys! Go Sharks!!

Trust in the Joe ...
.. and the JR. They will be the saviours of the Sharks yet and will bring ressurection. They will die and be reborn for the good of the world.

I have no idea why I’ve become biblical all of a sudden?!

ya ever get the feeling . . .
that we take this all a whole lot more seriously than our favorite teams do?
the coach and his staff are the guys i think have it the toughest. most of them have “been here before”. most of them have been succesful as players. most of them know what it takes to prevail. most of them would probably like to hop onto the ice to chip in for the greater good. i think most coaches are probably the biggest fan of their teams.
but when it comes right down to it, we fans and even the coaches can’t fix the list of concerns in your posting above. its all up to the boys.
this sounds way WAY worse than i mean it to . . . maybe the Sharks really ARE the left coast Blades. Sorry.
Go Sharks. GO SABS!!!
