NHL Connect ID
sportsfanattic
Description
A sports addict and a Sharks and a Sabres fan, (Let’s Go Buffalo!). Love Connect on account of living in a household devoid of other hockey fans. I come here to get my fix. Also a big fan of football (Vikings & 49ers), baseball (Cubbies) & NASCAR (Jeff Burton). Actually, I love racing in general, I follow Indy & F1, and watch MotoGP & World Super Bikes (Nitro Nori!). AMA SuperBikes are kind of a snooze because the same two guys always win. My husband was a dirt-bike racer in his younger days so we catch some Motocross. I’m more of a four wheel gal – used to have a ‘68 Torino GT. Wish I still did but I’d probably just get myself in trouble.
Favorite NHL Team
San Jose Sharks
Favorite Sports/Teams
Buffalo Sabres (Let’s Go Buffalo!). Also like the Ducks and Red Wings. Vikings, 49ers and Cubbies (’cause I like to suffer). I must add a new admiration for the Stars.
Favorite Players
Nabokov, Thornton, Cheechoo, Hasek, Datsyuk, Drury, Miller (Sabs), Pronger (yes, I know), Giguere, JR, Setoguchi, Grier, Luongo, Ovechkin (wow). Others: Ryno, Tarkenton, Andre Dawson, Steve Young, Jeff Burton, Sweetness (the all time greatest).
Music
Rock, oldies, CCR & Clapton, etc. Also love the Blues and Stevie Ray. The Boss, Joe Satriani, Peter Gabriel, Green Day . . .oh, lots and lots.
Books
Authors: Denis Lehane, Caleb Carr, Laurie King, Barbara Hambly, Stephen White, Joe Haldeman, Bill Bryson. I love Bryson and recommend him to anyone who likes to laugh. Books: The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie (yup, that Hugh Laurie), it’s hysterical. Hambly’s Benjamin January books, In a Sunburned Country, A Walk in the Woods, The Inner Game of Tennis, The Decline and Fall of Practically Everybody by Wil Cuppy, 1066 and All That. For actors, Tom Stoppard’s plays, The Lion in Winter, Frozen, Power Plays, Chekhov On the Technique of Acting, Hoffman & Moss’s books are good, too. For metalsmiths and jewelers, Tim McCreight, Jinks McGrath & Alan Revere.
Movies
Indies and anything with excellent acting. Eddie Izzard, one of the funniest men alive. A few lesser-known but goodies: A New Leaf, Memento, the Blackadder series (except season one), Tremors, Trainspotting, The Settlement, Ravenous, Being John Malkovich, Fargo, Strictly Ballroom, Boogie Nights, Sleuth, Kelly’s Heroes, The Big Lebowski, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Shaun of the Dead, Pulp Fiction, Noises Off. And I have to mention Slapshot. Is Chris Pronger related to the Hanson brothers? Gotta add the Dark Knight – see it in a theatre.
Other interests
Acting. Also Tai Chi & Qui Gong. Reading and silversmithing.

Hey Girl
I was reading on our Racing Group page that you have never been to a NASCAR race…You have to find a way to go to one…California Speedway is a great one for a superspeedway feel…Phoenix would a good oval that’s not too far to go…You can get cheap airfare on Southwest to there and the hotels and such are pretty reasonable too compared to alot of them…Aside from Charlotte, Phoenix was one of the best tracks to watch a race from the get that real upclose feel and it’s small enough to be able to take it all in too…But, the ultimate would be to go to one in Charlotte…That track is freaking amazing…I’d go there every week if I could…Seriously though, you love this sport too much not to get to one someday…Don’t do a road course like Sears Point…You miss way too much with those…I am going to try to remember to chat in the group comments more…I keep chatting on everyone’s individual Connect pages and I’ve missed out on some good chats with you guys on the group page…My bad!!! There’s just too much to keep up with…lol…And you and Yodaman are right…This new Connect is alot harder to navigate around too

Hey There
Yeah…I do anticipate both of our teams being back in the playoffs…Avery seems to be fitting in well from what I saw in the pre-season…Guess we’ll see for sure on Friday? Yeah it was typical Talledega…Glad it helped Burton some for you…
