Plenty of points to ponder
Tuesday March 25, 2008 @ 09:16 AM EDT
I am still amazed by the amount of email I receive from hockey fans all over the world. Remember, I am a hockey fan, just like you, and lucky enough to be blogging on NHL.com.
Your views and opinions are of as much value as mine and I always encourage you to email me (pk@kuklaskorner.com) at any time.
Let’s review some of the more interesting emails I have received in the last month:
Do players and coaches read the hockey blogs?
- Gene from Arizona
I am finding more and more players and coaches reading the hockey content available to them online. Using the word blog like you do is a very broad term. I do know a few of the players have their favorite sites, just like we do and visit them on a regular basis.
If you could live in any NHL city, where would it be?
- Cindi2
Depending how cold it is, either Anaheim or Montreal. Since my work is basically done through a computer and not actually attending games, I find I can be just about anywhere in the world to do what I do. My first question would be, how fast is the wireless network?
Now if I put on my NHL fan hat, it would be Montreal without a question. The hockey talk is always the headlines and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Would you wear a hockey jersey to a game?
I subscribe to the “over 25” theory. Once you reach age 25, the jersey goes into the closet. I am probably in the minority when it comes to this topic, but I wear my team colors in my heart, not on my back.
What is wrong with the San Jose Sharks (received a month ago)?
- Sharks fan in Florida
Nothing, now that they obtained Brian Campbell at the trade deadline. The Sharks needed a defenseman just like Campbell and now they have found him. The key now is to get him signed before he becomes a UFA.
Bring back the old game, the one played before the lockout. The players are now figure skaters in hockey gear and cry when they get hit. I don’t like the game anymore, anyone could play it today.
Figure skaters in hockey gear? The hitting is still in the game, the clutching and grabbing is gone. If you want to watch that type of hockey, well, wake me up when it is over. I prefer the current talent we are witnessing, anyone can grab and hold on. To play in the NHL today, you have to have talent and isn’t that what we want to see?
Why aren’t more hockey games in high definition? I would rather watch any game in HD than watch my home team which is broadcast in standard definition.
- Hockeyfreak
Point the finger at your regional carrier Hockeyfreak. All national NHL games are broadcast in HD and it is time for the regional carriers to do the same.
Is this the year Montreal brings the Cup back to Canada?
- Rocketman
The Canadiens are now my favorite to come out of the East, but if they face Detroit, San Jose or Anaheim, the Cup stays in the West.
I have searched and searched for email addresses for a few of the NHL teams. Can you help me out?
- Jimmy from Boston
Jimmy, if you go to the individual home pages of each NHL team, at the bottom of the page there is a “Contact Us” link. Click it and you may get the information you are requesting.
I have written a poem about Pavel Datsyuk but don’t want anyone to read it until Pavel sees it. Any suggestions?
- Pd13
No.
Dear Paul, I have never been to a hockey game. Are you interested in taking me to one? (email was post dated for April 1st)
- Scarlett Johansson
A week early, try again next Tuesday!

Critical Acclaim for the NHL on NBC.
I read this article a couple days ago on this site.
http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=357945
Apparently NBC has received a lot of praise for the genius and innovative idea of putting a commentator between the benches during the game, which is called “Inside the Glass”. I dont think that is half as innovative though as the their segment called “Lets Quit Broadcasting a Conference Finals Game Before Overtime So We Can Show A 2 Hour Pre-Show For A Frickin Horse Race”. Sorry, Im still bitter about that and take a little offense to them talking like they do a good job of broadcasting the NHL. I just needed to vent a little.

the last two are hilarious
That’s funny stuff. I have a question. Other than coaches and players, do you think (or know) anyone in the NHL administration (campbell, bettman) go to NHL.com or any other site to read what the fans are talking about?
