Less than 24 hours after announcing the re-signings of both center Evgeni Malkin and defenseman Brooks Orpik, Pens' GM Ray Shero added Ruslan Fedotenko and Miroslav Satan to the mix, and signed Marc-Andre Fleury to a seven-year deal.
The Rangers continued their remodeling by agreeing to terms with five-time All-Star Markus Naslund on a two-year deal and defenseman Dmitri Kalinin on a one-year pact. The deals spelt the end of Jaromir Jagr's tenure with the Rangers.
With Brian Campbell gone to Chicago, the San Jose Sharks bolstered their defense by signing free agent Rob Blake to a one-year contract. Blake has more than 700 career points and has scored more goals than any active NHL defenseman.
