Mixed review
I like the majority of your picks. I love that you have the Canes picked to finish 4th in the East. I think they should definitely get back into the playoffs, but I am not sure I see them having home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. I still have a couple of concerns about their blue line. I think Ottawa has turned into a train wreck and will miss the playoffs. NJ definitely gets into the playoffs and could be as high as 5th or 6th.
In the West, there’s no way I see Colorado as the third best team. They looked like a college hockey team playing against the Wings, especially in Game 4 and they might not even have Sakic back. I see Colorado, Minnesota, and Columbus fighting for the last spot. I think Columbus will finish higher than 13th. They have improved their team tremendously during the offseason and could sneak into the playoffs.

WOW!
I am impressed that you attempted to make a guess at the final standings already.
I like that you have Colorado finishing 3rd in the western conference, but I don’t like it that you have Pittsburgh finishing 5th in the eastern conference. As an Avlanche fan, I am concerned that you have them finishing way too high.. and as a Pens fan, I think you have them finishing too low. But.. honestly, I have no clue right now how the teams are going to finish. I need to see a few games in the season to get a feel for how the player changes will affect the teams.

Ouch
that hurt. Even Toronto is before NJ? And there’s no way Tampa Bay will be anywhere near the bottom of the spectrum.

close
looking at that reminds me of how close teams are and how some good teams will be left out, maybe the playoffs should be expanded to 12 teams, going with your predictions, I see phx, min,nj,tb,bos, and maybe nsh or even columbus as teams that could make great runs
