Pens are IN!
Monday May 19, 2008 @ 04:47 PM EDT
Penguins have made it to the Stanley Cup finals and I could not be more proud. They played their hearts out yesterday and came out on top. Every player contributed in some way. Fleury was a rock, Crosby a leader, Geno a star, and the list can go on. Jordan Staal has been amazing and I really hope he gets the credit he deserves. A day after his grandfathers funeral (a person he was very close with) he netted two goals. And then, in game 5 he netted another. He has been amazing on the PK. Pens in all have been played very well and have a near perfect 12-2 record. The Flyers—-have to give them all the credit in the world. They played very good hockey, despite being down two of their best defensemen for a majority of the series. They played well and desereved their spot in the conference finals. In game 4 the Flyers were unstoppable but the Pens had their number in game 5. I am so proud of my Pens and cannot wait for the Stanley Cup Finals. Personally, I hope it is versus my Detroit Red Wings. Dallas may statistically be an easier team to beat, but if they beat the Wings, I would have to disagree. Think about it people. If Dallas wins this series, they would not only have knocked out a team that led them three games to none, but they would have knocked out the THREE teams that everyone predicted to win the Cup. Anyways…way to go Pens!
Go Pens and Go Wings!

Greatest Feeling
I still remember the excitement of the Ducks making it last year. It is the greatest feeling to finally see your team make it to the cup. I’m rooting for the Pens all the way. Crosby winning the Cup will boost the game all across the country.

Please go 7 games....
There’s certainly no Cinderella stories this year! I will continue to root for nobody in particular, but will certainly hope to see a classic series that’s talked about for years to come. The last couple of rounds have bored me a bit, I must say, so here’s to a rousing finish!

Today’s Pens are fantastical – they’re Machinae (Ex Deus or not), they can to work, they must work to bring home the Cup.

MAF – the rock; Detroit – the rock city… so, let’s get rock!!!

You nailed it, Tanya!
Enjoy the new “Oilers”! That’s what this team reminds me of. Even though they’re known for offense, they know how to play defense when they need it, and Fleury makes the big save when it’s needed. Sounds like 1980s Edmonton to me – and I should know. Maybe the Pens can have the same dynasty, but only if they can afford to keep this much talent together. This salary cap era works against that, and when the Oilers had to worry about money, that’s when that team (and my Flames) disintegrated before our eyes. For hockey’s sake, I hope that never happens again.

Do I hear Dynasty...
Maybe not this year but I think the Pens will be knocking on the door for years to come… Not only do you need the players but you need the backroom personnel, the Pens have both (al they need now is a bigger arena).

ecellent!
Very nice blog! It’s an interesting coincidence, but when the Pens beat the North Stars in 1991, that team beat Chicago in the first round (presidents trophy winner) then St. Louis (2nd best record in league) then Edmonton (defending cup Champs) This Dallas Stars team if they win will have knocked of the Defending Champs and Presidents trophy winner.
