The Love Guru

As you may or may not know by now, the movie The Love Guru, coming to theaters near you in June 08 features our dear Toronto Maple Leafs (well not them.. but a warped hollywood version of them). Below is the trailer from YouTube, check it out for yourself:
Eight reasons why you should go see this movie in June:
1) Did I miss something or is this like Mike Myers first movie since the last installment of Austin Powers? Mikey, a TO native, is also a huge Leafs fan and a co-writer of the film. So thank him for the shout to the Blue and White.
2) The loverly Jessica Alba is a star. Need I say more fellas? She plays the owner of the Leafs (if only, eh?)
3) The Leafs are in the running for the Stanley Cup? What? Well now we know it’s not based on a true story…
4) Romany Malco plays the Leafs’ star player. You may know him from 40 Year Old Virgin. I know him as Conrad, from the best show on televsion, Weeds. I’m a big fan.
5) Justin Timberlake stars as a rival player and fakes a French accent. I’m definitely no fan of JT, but his name in the movie is Jacques Grande.. which translates to Big Jack.. and you can’t really go wrong with a name like Big Jack.
6) Half of America will think that the “Toronto Maple Leafs” were created by Hollywood just for this movie.
7) All of Canada will know who the Maple Leafs are, and will probably call out all the falsities regarding the portrayal of said team.
8) The perfect marriage of hockey, comedy and romance. Everybody wins!
I’m so there. Besides, with hockey season over.. what else are we going to do with our Saturday nights?

Why on earth did they make the movie come out the night of the draft!?
It’s my plans for the 22nd, since I’m watching the draft, and going to a James Taylor consert. Laur, I don’t think you care about my personal life, now do we?

glad you’re advertising it because I actually hadn’t heard of this yet, which is shameful because I feel it’s my duty to watch hockey-related movies!
I wish I was in Canada so I could see how they’re going to take it.

the trailer seems cool...

this flick
is clearly in need of the Hanson Brothers. I saw the previews for this late last week and my initial opinion is that this looks pretty bad. Just a bit too cheesy for my liking, with the cheese factor soccer might have been a better fit for this one

My favorite – " Half of America will think that the “Toronto Maple Leafs” were created by Hollywood just for this movie." Cause it’s so true – so many Americans are so dumb when it comes to hockey.
