OK
My first year of hockey I wore #7 because #14 was taken. After that I wore 14 every year I could get it.
I played centre and used a straight stick, until of course curves became popular. But even then it was the slightest curve. And developing my backhand was a passion.
Watching the game on Saturday night, I coulda swore David Keon was working the scoreboard. It was Davey jr. of course, he looks just like his old man now.
You need to read a little more about Apps legacy to see why I pick him as the greatest captain. As for DK, he was my personal hero also and I’m writing a short ficticious blog at the moment called, HAROLD.

Raising the bar?
Well, now you and I both know how uniquely wonderful I am but I felt I should share my brilliance with the rest of Connect at large.. mmmfff …gmrfmmrrrff.. excuse me, my tongue seems to be stuck in my cheek. Now, where was I? Oh, right, Sharks win! And quite handily over the Ducks. Big Joe roughed up a couple of Niedermayers and Cheech got a couple of goals.
I love that the Leafs beat the Wings and the Nucks killed Calgary. A great opening day … now all we need is for the Sabs to flatten the Habs tonight. Go Sabres!!

Hey!
You backin’ down from a fight? And you call yourself a Sabs fan! If you think we’re missing the playoffs again this year, stick to your story. It’ll be that much sweeter when our boys prove you wrong!
Now, if you want to make fun of me, I can give you list. . .

Thanks for the morning chuckle …
Fins vs. Pong – now there’s an obscure reference. I, too, find myself wishing I’d hung onto my ’68 Ford Torino GT 302. Yowza, she could git up and go. I used to take her down to the local race track and use their parking lot to practice donuts and 360s and other things that would get me arrested today. I actually went so far as to price some of those great old 60s muscle cars – and even the Torino is around $12K – $15K in good condition – and it was never as popular as a Barracuda or Road Runner or, God forbid, a Camero. (I can’t even admit this outside parentheses, but I had a 64-5 Mustang for a few months and … sold it. There went my retirement!)
Fusion? Well, I’ll be damned – probably already am but – my husband is a huge, massive fan of Jeff Beck & Allan Holdsworth. He plays guitar and fusion is sort of his ‘thing’. So, I say, go find those old farts and play some Stevie Ray. Music suffered a huge loss when he died. I can only imagine where he would have taken us. I may get shot for saying this, but I think he played Hendrix better than Hendrix did. Little Wing & Voodoo Chile? I love progressive blues like Clapton and Sessions with Robert Johnson or From the Cradle.
I guess you’re right about Mr. Gadd. Dang! Spyro Grya to the Bee Gees to Ricky Lee Jones. He got around, musically speaking. As for punk, I was never into the hardcore stuff – although I still have some clothes my kids would find hysterical tucked away in my garage (anyone remember parachute pants?). I could probably still pull off Mad Max(ine) for Halloween. My husband was tracking down some old 80s videos from MTV when it still played music and the kids were like totally “you wore that stuff??!” sigh If you really want to feel your years, have kids … to them, the fall of Saigon is as ancient history as WWII is to me.
Well, I’ve tried your patience long enough. Time to catch a train. Later, my friend.
