Sad Day...

Monday May 05, 2008 @ 09:24 AM EDT

Eddie Cahill has made guest appearances on many popular television series, including Sex and the City and Friends. The native New Yorker currently plays Detective Don Flack on CSI: NY and will be following his hometown Rangers throughout the Playoffs.

I really thought the Rangers would get it done in Pittsburgh. What a bummer! Frankly I’m shocked that the Penguins were able to make such short work of our Rangers, but thems the breaks I guess. Again, I tip my hat to Pittsburgh. They were the better team.

I’d like to finish by saying thanks to all of you who contributed to this blog. Hopefully the Rangers will make the playoffs next season and we can pick up then where we left off. Thank you. You all made this blogging experience a great one.

Here’s to another Ranger playoff run in ‘09

LETS GO RANGERS!

All the best,

Eddie

    Ranger's Bright Future!

Indeed the Pens were the better team in the semi’s. My personal opinion is that the Pens are the best team in the East. It is also my opinion that the Rangers were easily the next best in the East. It seemed obvious even before the playoffs started that the Habs were in no position to go very far.
With a few smart acquisions the Rangers are there…They need some stronger finishers and a little more size. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how the Rangers loose; Jagr etc. They’re in no short supply of money and they can get around the salary cap with clever sign on and performance bonuses.
Maybe the Rangers weekest spot in the bench in their coaching…Renny replacement will only expedite their growth and progress.
Indeed they have a bright star in net and goaltending is essential if they hope to win the cup this decade.
As good as Jagr is, I think he is overated and over-compensated for what he does. As much as he says he likes New York, he went there becasue that’s where he could get the most money. And really, I think he left Pittsburgh becuase he couldn’t handle the pressure. He is yet to lead a team to the Stanley Cup. I can’t say I blame him. he came to this country a teenager and won two consecutive Stanley Cup’s, played with the best player in the world; which did two things: 1 greatly helped the development of his game, and, 2 maybe led him to believe he was a better player than he really was. It is almost tragic. I think it is reasonable to suggest that his possible departure from the NHL to one of the European leagues is really his desire to be on top again, be the best somewhere, anywhere, and if it’s closer to home, why not?
I will say Jagr and Straka together did far better in New York than they did in Pittsburgh when they were the sole star talent…after lemieux, Coffey, Murphy, Francis, Mullen and the likes.
Although the Pens won in 5 games, the series was much closer than it looked on paper. Both teams shut each other out once, and two of the other three games were won by a single goal.
The Pens were better defensively, offensivley, and definitley on the special teams. They were only marginally better at even strenght. And whats more, the bounces just seemed to go Pittsburgh’s way, except in game 4 of course.
I’m looking for the Wings vs Pens in the finals with a game seven victory for the Eastern Conference!

    Same here...

... I’m a huge Habs fan and they were kicked out of the playoffs by the Flyers. Sad sad hockey weekend for me since the Rangers are my second favourite team and I really hoped at least they would make it somehow. Well, it was great to have you on the boards again… Hope to see you around next year. Take care.

I’m with ya man… The Flyers made short work of my Habs and im totally crushed over it – you are a far more classy hockey fan than I to take it so well.
Good luck next season smile.png your boys have a talented core of guys and they’ll do well for sure.

    Hope

The Rangers have a lot of young talent in the works so the future is bright. They just need to make some adjustments in the offseason and I’ll sure they’ll be back at it again come playoff time next season.

    He probably just means

you won’t see him blogging on here anymore, since he was only asked to blog about the Rangers, I don’t think that necessarily means he won’t watch the rest of the playoffs. Most hockey fans (the real ones) that I know all continue to watch the playoffs, as will I even though my boys lost yesterday, sniff sniff…
