Welcome
Welcome to NHL Connect, the free fan-based social networking service that brings together hockey fans across the NHL.com Network and around the world.
We are happy to be the first to welcome you to the community, and would like to take this opportunity to inform you of features available to an NHL Connect user.
First, if you’ll look on the upper left-hand side of your screen, you’ll notice an ‘Open Tools’ tab. Clicking this tab will enable you to customize your page, giving you the ability to upload photos, re-arrange photos, change your profile information or even edit or delete the messages left on the boards (including this one). Also, you can use this feature to create a Group Page for any subject you’d like (which we will get to in a second). Clicking the tab ‘Close Tools’ will close this menu and send you back to your page.
You’ll notice, when you drift your cursor over your interests (the ones you added in the ‘About Me’ section of your registration), the information all becomes clickable links. If, for example, you added ‘Alexander Ovechkin’ to your favorite players list, clicking his name will give you a list of all the other users in the Community who have Ovechkin as a favorite. This way, you can search for users with similar interests. By clicking ‘Open Tools,’ ‘Profile,’ and ‘About Me,’ you can change these favorites at any time.
Groups are one way of getting your opinions out into the NHL Connect Community and an excellent way to meet new people. By clicking ‘Show Groups’ you will be able to view all of the groups currently available, starting with the official team groups and followed by member groups and other official groups, depending on what is going on in the NHL universe. Chances are, if it is making news, it will be a Connect Group! Joining a group is easy, just click the title of the group, or the icon next to the name, and then once you’ve arrived at that page, click the ‘Join Group’ tab next to the group name. Leaving a group is just as easy – click ‘Leave Group’ and you’ll be out. This is a handy feature if your allegiances change during the course of your stay here.
Now, you’re ready to participate! Post your own Blogs, leave comments for other users, and vote on the best pages, comments, and pictures you can find by clicking between 1-5 of the pucks located next to just about everything. And make friends – by clicking on the ‘Add to Friends’ tab beside the name, just as you would in joining a group – to connect with fans all over the world.
Feel free to invite your friends to join the Community by sharing with them the registration link, which can be found at http://fans.nhl.com/invite_account.html. We also encourage NHL Connect users to write to us with comments and feedback. Please share your thoughts with us at fans-connect@nhl.com.
To ensure that you receive email notifications from NHL Connect, please add mailer@fans-nhl.com to your Address Book or Safe List.
We hope you enjoy your experience on NHL Connect and look forward to seeing you on the boards! Don’t wait to get started and share your interests with other hockey fans just like yourself!
P.S. – As an added incentive to being an active NHL Connect user, return to the NHL.com page and click the tab ‘Blogs’ on the left-hand side of the homepage. Here is the portal to our Community, where users can sign in and view the most recently updated pages. By clicking the ‘More…’ tab next to the recently updated pages, users will be able to view the 10 most recently updated pages, the 10 most popular pages based on votes, and the 10 most viewed pages based on ‘clicks.’ We hope to see you on this page very soon!
