Thorsten currently plays wealthy casino owner, Zach Slater, in ABC’s daytime drama, All My Children. For that role, he received a Daytime Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Lead Actor” in 2006. He has also appeared in films, The Silencers, Deadly Desire, and The Bone Collector. An avid rugby and hockey fan, Kaye will chronicle the Detroit Red Wings run to the Stanley Cup.
You know things are going well when Samuelsson, who hadn’t scored in I don’t know how long, and Cleary, who had a total of one goal thus far in the playoffs, both come up with huge performances and account for three of four goals scored.
Hey, that’s playoff hockey.
Actually, that’s Stanley Cup Final hockey.
I was able to make it to the game tonight, and I had a fantastic time. I had great seats, the building was rocking, and I was able to watch a victory in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. How much better can things get than that?
Someone told me today that the team winning Game 1 of the SCF has gone on to win 80% of the Finals…I’m not about to believe in statistics with this much on the line, but I will say this: it’s nicer to win Game 1 than it is to lose it.
I also mentioned, in a blog a few weeks back, that I would have a chance to sit down with Hall-of-Famer Ted Lindsay. Well, today was the day, and I couldn’t have been happier about how it went down.
First of all, some pictures from the meeting:

I’m actually writing this blog still in the arena, some of the NHL.com boys were good enough to let me borrow a computer and a few moments to collect my thoughts…my thanks out to them, and to the rest of the NHL family, and all of the Detroit Red Wings and their staffers as well, because I have been treated amazingly from start to finish.
Now, I was able to ask a few of your questions to Ted, and I’ll get a chance to post those tomorrow. I just need time to collect my thoughts.
I’ll have those up tomorrow, so you’ll have some good off-day reading. And I’ll be back again Monday for another preview series, and hopefully Tuesday, for another post-game, post-win wrap up!
But, this Pittsburgh team won’t be beaten like this again, they’re dangerous and they’re hungry and proud, so I expect next game’s score to be a little more even.
Now, it’s not often I get a chance to meet two legends in one night, but that was the case tonight as I was also able to see Scotty Bowman himself before the win. He looks great – like he could step out tonight and coach the boys to a win (of course nothing against you, Mike!). Atta boy, Scotty!
Until then hockey fans, I’ll see you on the site!
TK

Welcome to Stanley Cup Play Off Hockey Pittsburgh
Congradulations on makeing it to the playoffs… This round is the hardest yet, and this is where the experience comes in.
On a side note couln’t help but notice how the Wings kept getting under the Pens skin. I was hoping for a nice respectable series but after game 2, I think that I will be sadly mistaken.

What a way to start
I must say the first period made me a little nervous with all the PP going to the Pens but Ozzy did one fantastic job. That first goal by Samuelsson was a thing of beauty. Coming around the net and just popping it in WOW. After that it was all over for the Pens. Special kudos to my man Lidstrom and Zetterberg who always gets it done and nice to see Cleary step up.
Can’t wait to read your interview with Ted.
One game at a time TK.

I had a feeling you were there...:)
What an incredible game tonight! And I think you’re totally right, Pittsburgh WON’T be beaten like that again, you could see it on their faces. They are very dangerous and they have a lot of confidence for their age and when they get a handle on it they’ll be a force to contend with.
I was so hoping Drapes would score on his birthday, but I love the guys stepping up from nowhere and doing what needs doing. Samuelsson was fun to watch, it was like it felt so good he just had to do it again! It’s a holiday weekend so I knew you were out there somewhere, having the time of your life. Can’t wait to read your interview with Ted. This promises to be a really intense, fun series, and I can’t wait for the rest of it! And PS it was nice seeing you last week, as always!

One win down and three to go!
Oh man I LOVE both of these teams and I will admitt I won’t be dissapointed either way with the result this year. I think we might see a more determined Pens group in game two mainly because I think there might have been alot of opening night jidders for this extreamly young group of men BUT Sid the Kid did have his chances tonight. A big congrats to the guys in red tonight! They came out flying and all the lines were firing. It was great to see strong performances by Samuelsson, Cleary, Drapes (OH he was so close to scoring tonight too what a shame), and of course OZZY! And Thorston it’s great to see that I have a interview to look forward to reading tomorrow!(I knew you would come through for us on that). BTW that is awesome that you got to meet Scotty! I am sure he has got to be enjoying Mr. Babcock’s work behind the bench. All I have left to say is that after 7 days having hockey back on is fantastic!!!!! (Oh God if I can’t stand having no hockey for 7 days how am I going to make it through the summer?? AHHH)lol

X Factors
I agree with you 100%. It is guys like Sammy, Drapes (Happy B-day to him), and Cleary that can have an impact on this series. That is what playoff hockey is all about. As much as I love seeing our top line of Zetterberg and Datsyuk scoring, it is nice when we have scoring support from all four lines. At this stage of the game, getting that support from guys like Sammy is going to be what allows us to win another Stanley Cup. Another guy to keep an eye on is Dallas Drake. Drake admitted he was a little nervous tonight being his first trip to the Finals and possibly his last but he is another guy who could be a key difference maker in this series. We all know that the Finals is about leaders who are expected to perform but also those unlikely heroes that make Playoff Hockey so exciting to watch.
Also, I am so excited to see your interview with Ted! Thanks again for the opportunity to participate in that.
