Stay away from Ishkabibbles

Tuesday April 15, 2008 @ 10:16 AM EDT

Syd Butler is the bassist for Les Savy Fav, a New York-based band considered among the godfathers of the independent rock music scene. Butler founded the Frenchkiss Records label, with the intent to release the band’s albums, and has since signed over 35 bands, including the Hold Steady, Thunderbirds Are Now, and the Dodos. Ever since growing up in the Washington D.C. area, Syd has been a die-hard Washington Capitals fan. He can’t wait to see what the Stanley Cup Playoffs bring for his Caps.

GAME 2.

BOO!

Philly played a great game…I can’t believe I’m saying that. I didn’t see the same Caps as the game before. I recognized the names on the back of the jerseys but not the passing and shooting. I know Biron had a shutout but not because of amazing saves. The Caps shot the puck at his chest all night. I don’t want to take anything away from the shutout or the defensive playing from the Flyers, but overall the Caps looked out of gas. Maybe the emotional ride from getting to this point showed? I know I was tired from coming back to earth from the rocket ride from Game 1. I can’t imagine how they felt. But now with this loss, the Caps need to gas up the red rocket again and blast off. There are only a couple other planets left to visit before they reach planet Euphoria; Uranus won’t do.

P.S. Caps: Stay away from Ishkabibbles cheese steaks when you get to Philly. You want to play Montreal eventually, so after you beat them, too, we can celebrate with better food- a pastrami sandwich with mustard from Schwartz’s.

Looking forward to tonight.
