Tick Tock, Tick Tock...

Monday June 02, 2008 @ 10:56 AM EDT

So here I sit; another Monday morning at work. Actually, not just ‘another’ Monday morning. This Monday is a little different and, has the potential to be spectacular. Unfortunately, the clocks will just not tick or tock fast enough today. I am still pinching myself due to the fact that I will be at Game 5 tonight and… yeah… I’m pretty much speechless. In addition, I have a swarm of anxious little butterflies residing in my stomach; we all know the feeling. A select few of these butterflies are of the Nervousinae family but the majority of them are from the common Anxiousinae family.

For the workplace, I am expected to wear business casual on Mondays through Thursdays. But, I had to wear my Wings shirt that has been my little good luck charm ever since the 2008 playoffs started. Hopefully they will find it in their hearts to let me slide today. If not, I know I will be punished for a good cause. wink.png Either way, I’m OK with it because, in approximately 5 hours, I will be on my way downtown; final destination – The Joe! As far as this particular Monday goes, Game 5 is the only thing that matters to me. The rest can be dealt with tomorrow.

As of right now, it is literally a beautiful day in Detroit. One would be hard pressed to find a cloud residing in the cool blue sky. The forecast is calling for a high of about 82 degrees. I can only pray that there is one more thing in the forecast for Detroit today but, only time will tell.

Let’s Go Red Wings!

    Uhhh!

We were at Game 5, too! Despite the HORRIBLE loss, wasn’t it an awesome experience?! I took a ton of pics that day/night (on my page). PLZ post your parade pics! =)

    I

Can’t be there (stuck in DC) but cheer hard for all us Wings fans who’ll be watching from the couch tonight. I love this team and have followed them all season long. It would make my year to see them win it tonight in front of the home crowd at the Joe. But it will be up to them to keep the effort at a max tonight. Pittsburgh is like a wounded animal right now and I have to think they’ll come out guns blazing.

    Thanks for the comments everyone!

mchiconsky – From one Wings fan to another, you have my word I will be cheering extra loud for every Wings fan out there! If all goes well, come tomorrow, you’ll be red with joy! smile.png

Kovalev27Fan – You’re absolutely right, I will remember this night forever no matter what the outcome and GO WINGS!

HANK40 – I agree, its going to be electric, its going to be loud, its going to be incredible. There is nothing like a buzzing JLA, is there? BTW, whatever you do, hang on to that customer for life! haha

RedM3 – Just reading your comment got my heart racing even more. You’re lucky I do my best to run a little on a regular basis and (hopefully) have a strong heart! LOL Also, check out my videos if you get a chance becuase I have that Shanny goal in there. Its one of my favorite goal celebrations.

Theres still at least 3 periods to play no matter what. I agree with all of you though – I am thankful beyond anything I can put into words right now and, either way, this is going to be a night I will always remember. Hopefully, it will be a VERY fond memory for all of those cheering on the Wings tonight!

    I was at game 5 in 2002

Next to getting married and the birth of my son it was the greatest moment in my life. Few experiences in life give you that surreal feeling. When Shanny scored the empty netter with a couple minutes left to seal the win I just couldn’t believe it. “I’m goig to get to see the Stanley Cup raised in victory by my Red Wings” was all I could think. The fans were going nuts and the noise was deafening. Lidstrom was handed the Conn Smyth and then came Stanley. My heart was beating like crazy and I didn’t know if I wanted to cry or scream. We spilled out of the Joe and in to the streets to let the party begin. Kept the party going to Greektown and didn’t get home until 4 am. I hope you get to experience this once in a lifetime feeling. Very few things can match it.

    Lucky You

Its gonna be crazy down there.. I went to Yzermans retirement (A great customer of mine has season tickets and GAVE me 4 tickets to that game, I sat 15 rows up behind zamboni…) My point is, that it was Amazing and Crazy down there.. I am jealous..but then again not jealouse because I feel just like you for the game tonight… I am glad just to watch it at home… They HAVE to win tonight…. There is nothing like winning the best trophy in sports at home in front of fans like you that get to be there… WOW… have fun….
