So, Nabokov didn’t get the Vezina. Am I surprised? Yes, a little. Am I disappointed? Yes, a little. Am I going to start trashing Martin Brodeur? No. I simply don’t do that because it’s rude and unnecessary. However, I will say my reasons on why I believed Nabokov should have won it.
Sooo first of all, remember those “miracle saves” he made during the playoffs? You know, the one in the first round on Owen Nolan? And then the one he made on Richards in Dallas during that EPIC 4OT game? Yeah, on both of those, I thought they went in. Randy & Drew (our commentators) thought it went in. Everyone in the arena thought it went in. But the puck didn’t. Can you say “SKILL”? I mean, lasting through a 4OT game and still managing to make a save like that so we still have a chance.
Which brings me to the next point. THAT 40T GAME. That was the longest game in the playoffs, and it didn’t do squat for the Vezina. Hardly fair, IMO.
Oh, and remember the Calgary series? That thing lasted for 7 long games. It took us the whole series, but Nabby got the job done.
Nabby started nearly every game for us, and had the most wins in the NHL. Remember when he called out the team, and said that the boys have got to become men? Nabby is THEEE MANN. He sets us straight. If that isn’t hard work, I don’t know what is anymore. I say we get to vote for the winners next year.
Anyways, I want to bring up something totally off-topic. McLellan as the Sharks’ head coach? A Red Wing assistant as our head coach? A former enemy as our coach? Haha, this is so… funny!
I remember I was holding a massive grudge against the Wings, and now.. their assistant coach is our head coach! Well, at least I can say I’m looking forward to next season!
Okay, so I’m done writing. Congratulations to all the winners, and I hope you California people are enjoying the hoooottt weather right now, because I certainly am!

Definitely
not saying anything bad about Brodeur, you can’t, because career stats don’t lie, undoubtedly one of the greatest goalies ever, but I think this is supposed to be based on 07-08 stats and performance only, and seriously? Nabby hands down, Hank should have come in second (as opposed to third like he finished last two years) and Brodeur third. I agree he deserved to be nominated, but not win. I think we were all shocked.

gotta agree with ya'll on nabakov
good points all.
maybe it went to Brodeur because of his time in the league and the belief Nabakov will have many more years to win it?
But chin up dear- you just got yourself a great coach, who will bring a fantastic system to your team. Can’t wait to see the Sharks beat on the Ducks next year!

Well
I’m not going to say that Brodeur doesn’t deserve it but I sure did think that Nabokov was going to get … I’m totally serious. Didn’t he have more shut outs this season?

I was thrown off too
Nabokov has more wins,a better GAA,less losses, played more icetime, the only thing Brodeur had was he faced more shots and had a better Save%.It confused me cause I thought for sure he had it,there must be some other reason for it,maybe where Nabokov had a better team in front and Brodeur never had the team he is used to and had to play better.either way, during the season the stats were close, but I thought for sure Nabokov had it this year…
