Lauren_Conrad's blog
Welcome to my blog!
Wednesday April 09, 2008 @ 08:59 AM EDT

Welcome to the NHL Connect blog page for Lauren Conrad. Lauren, also known as “LC”, is currently the star of MTV’s hit show, The Hills. Previously, she starred on Laguna Beach and recently launched her new “Lauren Conrad” clothing line in March. LC is excited to blog about the Anaheim Ducks’ quest for a repeat of last year’s Stanley Cup victory.
Hi hockey fans!
My name is Lauren Conrad and I’m a casual hockey fan who has gotten into going to Kings games over the past 2 seasons. I’m blogging about the NHL playoffs because I LOVE hockey and I thought this would be a fun way to get more involved with the Post-Season.
I grew up in Orange County but now live in LA, so its easier for me to get to Kings games and I’ve become a Kings fan. Funny enough though, I’ve been going to Kings games with friends I grew up with in Laguna Beach, in the heart of Ducks country.
Since the Kings are out of it, I’ll adopt my fellow Orange County Anaheim Ducks as my team for the playoffs. Is there anything you guys think I should know as I watch the Ducks?
Thanks for reading and I’ll talk to you soon. Enjoy the playoffs!
Lauren

Lauren is awesome!
All those out there ripping Lauren for being a celebrity blogger must be complete idiots! I absolutely love hockey but the state of the sport has got to concern any hockey fan, it hardly makes headlines in any US media coverage. My point is that celebrities have a lot of influence and any celebrity who wants to give a little extra coverage to the best sport out there is ok by me. Instead of deterring celebrities from loving hockey, lets try and encourage all the fans we can get. And Lauren, after watching the Ducks for the post season, you’ll forget about those miserable Kings.

The Mighty Mighty Ducks
The Ducks (while I cringe at the thought of the Stanley Cup winner being from a) SOCAL and b) named the DUCKS) are your quintessential Canadian style hockey team. Every Canadian boy grew larning to play hockey like the Ducks: play fast, hard and finish your checks. The Niedermayers are about as good as any crop of players, Pronger is a bum, and Ryan Getzlaf is one of Canada’s better young players. Forget what the others say, the Ducks are as good of a team as any. Besides, the King’s uniform is like…so tacky.

.... tell your publicist to stop writing blogs and taking up our space. and stop taking up space on mtv.i used to watch it until they took away music. its pretty sad that mtv has taken away talented artists to make room for this USELESS crap they call “entertainment”. i watched part of your show once and didnt see any point to it at all. you are very beautiful but thats about it.

Oh Lauren, How Could You?
I am a reality show junkie. I could never admit this if I wasn’t hiding behind a screen name, but it is true. The Hills is my true romance, my Monday night fix. It all began with Laguna Beach but it is ending with this blog. I have supported Lauren’s love affairs and devastations, falling outs (Heidi vs. LC), and shared in her success and happiness when she spent a week in Paris. However, it seems my sick and twisted stint as a television groupie will end if her blog continues. Lauren, you aren’t a writer. You are a fashionista and an MTV baby. I love you, but you are a poor writer and an even worse hockey fan. I live in the heart of Detroit, where sports fans have remained loyal when others would have filed for divorce. Here, we do not swap teams because they are winning or made it to the playoffs. There are no bandwagons in Detroit. I cannot relate to this team swapping concept you speak of. So, Lauren, my advice is to abandon this blog before too many people hear of it and for God’s sake, don’t say you like a team because they are “in” right now, as if the Ducks are like a Marc Jacobs dress. Although sports rotate in seasons, it is nothing like rotating your shoe closet. If you don’t know enough to comment, my Mother would tell you to remain quite and listen- in your case that would mean behind the glass.

kings and ducks
if you LOVE hockey, you should know the rules. The Kings and the Ducks are HUGE rivals. You cannot go from cheering for the kings, to cheering for the ducks. its wrong. that makes you a sell out band wagoner.
when you watch the ducks play, look for all their cheap shots they take. Oh, and be sure to watch Pronger’s elbows, because those things sure to have a mind of their own!

Adopting Teams
Hey Bologna take it easy. Whenever your team doesn’t make the playoffs than you cheer for other teams that you like. I’m an Oilers Fan but they didn’t make it this year so I’m cheering for the Flames, Canadiens and the Capitals. It doesn’t make you a bandwagon jumper. Hockey is hockey and any fan is at the core a fan of the game itself. I don’t know about the dynamics in California in terms of the rivalries but I think Edmonton Calgary is a bigger one and I’m still cheering for them cause I think that they are a well structured playoff team. Bandwagon jumpers are people who have no interest in the game in the regular season and can’t name even 5 players on their “Favorite Team”. Then they use the playoffs as an excuse to get drunk and act stupid. Believe me I saw a lot of it in 2006 during Edmonton’s run.
