I love the city of Pittsburgh and am a serious Penguins fan. I’ve skated my entire life and love hockey because of the speed and finesse of the players on the ice, for the sport of the game not necessarily the blood, gashes, missing teeth and noses that are sacrificed for the quest. I’m just as much a fan of a good check as anyone else however. I currently live in a state that isn’t exactly the hockey mecca of the US. We did send Notre Dame to the Frozen Four in ‘08 though! I live in IN, but my entire extended family is from the Pittsburgh area. I may be a native of Illinois and the midwest, but Western PA is in my blood. But lest you Flyers fans think I have no love for the eastern part of the state, I was happy that both teams went into the playoffs this season! Went to Penn State and am still a die-hard nittany lion fan. My family has taught me to love Pittsburgh and all its many sports legacies(minus the Pitt Panthers of course).

Favorite Sports/Teams:

Chicago Wolves. Penn State football and JoePa. Penn State Hockey and Coach “JoeBa.” Steelers. Pirates; although nothing beats a game in the “Friendly Confines” of Wrigley. Team Italia Soccer and Buffon.

Favorite Players:

Mario Lemieux. Current players would include the young guns and recent acquires with the Penguins bench. Malkin, Crosby, Hossa. Seeing Jagr retire is a bit surreal. Love him or hate him, he was was one of the stars of some great Penguins teams. The players that have been in the league through the 90s and continue to play. Here’s to the goalies! Fleury, Osgood, Barrasso, Patrick Roy.
