Missing the Captain
I think Stevie is very happy where he is in the front office and was every bit as excited to win his first cup as a part of management as he was to win it as a player. While different, it is still a major accomplishment to have done so much in such a short time as Stevie has done since hanging up the skates for the suit. I think we will see much more from the Captain during the up coming Olympics as well as being more active with the Canadian National team.

Just too soon, but I understand.
I wish Steve could have stayed on, just to hoist the cup for a forth and final time. He laid the ground work and paved the way for this team. He deserves a championship every year!

What I wouldn't give
To have Stevie suiting up for this series against the Pens. And you know deep in his heart that fire still burns. He’s given more than anyone could ask though so this time the boys will do it for him.

The Captain
Though he left the Red Wings in good hands, Stevie Y was, and will always, “THE CAPTAIN”, which is different than just being the captain.
He’s even admired by players from other sports for not only his dedication to his sport, but his leadership and modesty.Steve Yzerman was never one of those team captains who hog the spotlight, forcing his team not to be able to function without him, instead of inspiring each teammate to do his beat at all times ( neither is Nick Lidstrom by the way..he’s taking his ques from Stevie). Rather he would lead the way by example, on how to improve oneself, and be the best help to your team as you possibly could.
He didn’t try to be a superstar, just tried to be the best he could be..for his team..not the media hype, a super player and leader, whose lead his one and only pro team into the dynasty that they are.
Thank you Stevie Y.
