Malone - how bad?
Just read Ryan Malone is being looked at for an illness – which Doctors apparently believe may have developed from an infection from a recent cut on his leg. Kind of scary when you think about the possibilities of a staff, etc.
I really thought last year they may trade him, but watching last night’s game kind of showed how important he is. Strong on penalty killing and also he’s been on Crosby’s line.
Poor performance last night, but always the optimist – I think games like that seem to help. Not bashing, but 5 shots in the first two periods not good. However, with Malone and Talbott both out – people were just not jelling – the 7 defensemen and only 11 forwards didn’t help. Should be a nice atmosphere tomorrow night in Boston. Orpik and Whitney returning to their College roots. Probably will see Ty Conklin in goal. I forgot he had played with Edmonton. So, while we might not know much (other than he had a good camp) – it just might be the boost they need. Let’s hope.
