to all those who think hamilton needs a team
HAMILTON IS A HOLE. just moved from there (15yrs). we call it ‘the armpit of ontario’. it has the highest rate of welfare recipients in canada, probably not the best place to start a new franchise, especially since it lies within the 200km radius of both toronto and buffalo, which would then make it subject to royalties imposed by the NHL.
instead of hamilton, it should be a kitchener-waterloo team (one of the fastest growing areas in canada), attracting fans from windsor, london, k-w, cambridge, guelph, milton, burlington, oakville, mississauga, brantford and hamilton areas (all with populations of 110,000+ – probably averaging 400,000, and all within an hr drive (except windsor). one of the (i believe) RIM owners was trying to bring the pre-crosby Penguins here after they almost lost their team – hence the penguins exhibition game in hamilton that year (Copps Coliseum was the largest arena in the are).
Halifax should get a team… and poor old Winnipeg.. what do those people do out there for fun these days?

I say
Hamilton, Winnipeg and Halifax. Three places where I want to go and possibly stay. But then again, I’m not so sure if Hamilton is a good idea, too close to Toronto.
