Bridgeport Soundtigers
Surprising that they could be so mediocre with the amount of talent playing down there. Any one of Campoli, Bouchard, Nilsson, Tambellini, and Bougeniecki should be able to step right into the NHL, if called up, and all of them together, in a lower league, can’t seem to put a Soundtiger streak together. I was treated to a nice surprise recently though, when I saw Joe Pavelski called up to the Sharks, and score 4 goals in his first 5 games (including a nice one vs. the Red Wings to win the game with 6 seconds remaining), because I got a chance to see him live a couple weeks ago in Bridgeport while he was still with Worcester.

I just wanted to toss out that I really like the new Ice Pilots Unis…
With the sole exception of the creepy looking original Iceman patch on the sleeve. I rather liked the Jet stream lines down at the bottom of the sweaters:
Michael Mole played a heck of a game for the Pilots Saturday night. The Blades had numerous scoring chances in the third and it almost seemed like the official were trying to let them tie the game up, especially given they had five power play ops in that period, including a brief 3-on-5 (C. Hemingway Pen (bench minor – too many men 74.2) 5:59, B. Henley Pen (cross-checking minor 59.2) 6:47) but Mole kept everything out of the net.
The Pilots are a New York Islanders affiliate, but their goalies seem to be coming from everywhere else.
Mole was one of five hockey players with Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) ties that had their names called by executives from the NHL in a “mini draft” shich marked the end of the Bell Making the Cut reality show on CBC television.
A member of the CIS champion St. Francis Xavier University X-Men, Mole went third, to the Ottawa Senators. A 22-year-old native of Orleans, Ont., he enjoyed a spectacular rookie season in the CIS in 2003-04. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound goalie was named to the CIS all-rookie team, and was chosen University Cup tournament MVP as he led the X-Men to their first ever CIS title with two shutouts in three outings. In 12 conference games this season, he shows a 2.78 goals against average and a .915 save percentage.
The Ice Pilots other goalie, Michael Ayers, was recently assigned to the team by the AHL Norfolk Admirals.
In any case, I very much enjoyed watching Mole, and I believe I shall actually look forward to the Pilots return to SW Florida in February.
