Group Description
Yes, it’s true. All of my groups are about diseases, but this is just terrible. Some of you might have heard recently that Ryan Miller’s cousin Matt Schoals passed away on Monday. He was only 18. In fact, he had just turned 18 one month before his death. It’s truly sad, so if you could just write a little something for him and his family, that would be nice.

Steadfast and the SOC foundations
I cried when I heard about Matt Man…I didn’t expect myself to have such a strong reaction to the news, but i curled up on my couch and cried for a good portion of that october game :[
Not to spread propaganda for my own foundation, but Ryan’s work with Steadfast (and Dean Miller not liking my e-mails, with perseverance i’m still bugging him…)the SOC (Shut Out Cancer) foundation was started up. We support and stand right behind Steadfast (although, for the moment, they don’t know it yet :]) If anyone visiting here is interested, feel free to check out the SOC Group here on connect (under ‘Shut Out Cancer’) or our myspace page at Myspace.com/shutoutcancer
(psst…we have blue and gold bracelets!)

Matt Man
I was at the game against the Thrashers when Ryan Miller was named the 3rd star…it brought tears to my eyes when I saw him skate out and hold up his helmet for the fans to see. Matt was with Ryan and the guys that night and it was great to see the team get such a great win for him. Everyone should go on www.thesteadfastfoundation.com and do what you can to support Ryan’s foundation!!! Matt Man will never be forgotten by Sabres fans!!

Wishes
Cancer is a horrible disease that has a way of bringing family closer only to tear you away. I wish Ryan Miller and his family the best in this time. I have lost my bestfriend and my grandmother to Cancer and know that no matter what age the pain edured leaves a scar on your heart.
May your scars heal fast, but the memories never fade.

this always makes me smile...
"I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, ‘There she goes!’ Gone where? Gone from my sight … that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, ‘There she goes!’ there are other eyes watching her coming and their voices ready to take up the glad shouts ‘Here she comes!’ -Henry Van @%

Matt is the Man
I was sad to hear of the passing of Matt Schoals. He was not only an inspiration to Miller, he was to me and everyone who was touched by his story. It brought a tear to my eye seeing the post game interview of Miller after the thrasher game. The whole team played for Matt that night. I’m sure Matt was lookin down on the boys and smiling from ear to ear. He will be apart of the team forever.
