He's hung up his skates, but that doesn't mean Mark Messier has lost any of his passion for hockey. The sport's greatest leader talked with NHL.com about free agency, dynasties, the Winter Classic and much more.
The Atlanta Thrashers want more from their prospects than size and skill. They're looking for intangibles such as competitiveness and hockey sense in their young players as they prepare for NHL careers. Brotherly love

Proud of this team!
I think I’d like to start by saying if you take a team that finished dead last, one picked by many to not even make the playoffs, and that team not only makes the playoffs but defeats a hot team like Washington, and takes out its frustrations further on the No. 1 seed in the East before bowing out against “the Next One” and a host of superstars, well…it would be silly to say this team was anything but a success. ...more

OK, now we're in trouble
So I was watching the game last night and everything I see from the players, to the mood of the coaching staff, is that they’re just trying so hard to overcome the injuries to their defense but it just isn’t happening. It’s tough when you don’t have that backside help, especially someone as important as Kimmo has been to this team. ...more

Pre-Game Jitters
So first of all, my entire blog was going to be about Kimmo Timonen and what he meant to this series. I can’t say enough about how much he’s meant to this team and while I believe we can overcome the loss, I know, and everyone else knows, that it won’t be easy. ...more

A tough week...
Well, the hockey gods weren’t good to me since my last entry. Both of my teams were defeated, and my good friend was touched for four goals again in the COL/DET clinching game. ...more

Sad Day...
I really thought the Rangers would get it done in Pittsburgh. What a bummer! Frankly I’m shocked that the Penguins were able to make such short work of our Rangers, but thems the breaks I guess. Again, I tip my hat to Pittsburgh. They were the better team. ...more

Let's go Pittsburgh
Well it was tough to lose to the Rangers, but it’s good to see them down 3-0 to Pittsburgh. I’m definitely going for Pittsburgh in that series. I wonder if the energy of the rivalry with the Devils hurt New York in this series...more

Jumping through hoops
Hello NHL fans, and thanks to NHL.com for allowing me some space to talk hockey with you! I’m a little down about the Habs game last night, and about the hole that Colorado has dug for themselves out West – but before we get to that, I figured I’d give a little background on my love of the game. ...more

"They came to scout the Chiefs!"
The game ended no more than 2 minutes ago, and it’s taking tremendous effort to keep myself from throwing this computer out the window. Yes, I am one of those unreasonable and narcissistic fans who watches a game like that and thinks, “They must hate me, that’s why there doing this!” I can’t help it, I take it personally and I’m pissed. Hey, nobody’s perfect. ...more
