"They came to scout the Chiefs!"
Monday April 28, 2008 @ 10:17 AM EDT

Eddie Cahill has made guest appearances on many popular television series, including Sex and the City and Friends. The native New Yorker currently plays Detective Don Flack on CSI: NY and will be following his hometown Rangers throughout the Playoffs.
The game ended no more than 2 minutes ago, and it’s taking tremendous effort to keep myself from throwing this computer out the window. Yes, I am one of those unreasonable and narcissistic fans who watches a game like that and thinks, “They must hate me, that’s why there doing this!” I can’t help it, I take it personally and I’m pissed. Hey, nobody’s perfect.
All I can think right now is that adjustments need to be made. I don’t feel that the Rangers were ready for how quickly the Penguins can strike in Game 1, and as a result there were times when our defense looked utterly overwhelmed, flat-footed and outright goofy. Then, in Game 2, it was their control and their defense that had us looking like pee-wee players; kudos to the Pens for altering their game plan accordingly, but where were the tinkerings on the Rangers’ end?
They’ve got to sharpen up or this could turn nightmarish very quickly. Dare I say they looked immature? The Penguins are dangerous, too dangerous to be caught looking…
Don’t mistake my tone for a lack of confidence: I believe, but those first two games rattled me. I expected the Rangers to be on top of their game and frankly I’m shocked that they crumbled the way they did. I hope to God that they come out in game 3 prepared to battle. They have got to jump on Pittsburgh and not let up until the game is over. They have got to establish the forecheck and keep the pressure on in Pittsburgh’s end, especially if they get a cushion like they did. I don’t thinks it’s wise to fall back on Pittsburgh, ever – no matter what lead the Rangers have. They are way too crafty for that.
I guess if you like goal scoring Game 1 was an exciting game. And if goaltending and defense is your thing, then Game 2 was probably an edge-of-your seat thriller. However, to me Game 1 was sloppy and maddening, and Game 2 was downright frustrating.
Sure, the Rangers had moments in both games, but by in large their playoff edge was nonexistent. Hopefully they get back to business on Tuesday.
(And then there’s Kelly Sutherland. Kelly, please do me a favor and let the soft interference call go (for both sides) with 3 minutes left in regulation in a tie game. Come on pal, these games count. Okay, I’m done whining … Maybe.)
Here’s to taking Game 3!
LETS GO RANGERS!
All the best,
Eddie

So, who will be brave enough to take on Laraque? That’s the question that I would really like to have answered. Although we Pens fans are hoping it will be Avery, we all know that probably won’t happen. granted, he’s good at running his mouth, taking cheap shots at goalies, and prancing around like a diva. but, if he tries that nonsense on Fleury that he did on Brodeur, his pretty boy image will be put on hiatus after guys like Laraque, Ruutu, or Malone get done with him.

oh, please
All this talk of Pens fans being ungrateful to Jagr and Sid taking dives is ridiculous. First, we shouldn’t be booing Jagr. What’s the point really? He didn’t even register a shot until game 2, we shouldn’t waste our voices on a non-factor. Secondly, I guess if you consider being bent over backwards while driving to the net “diving” then yes, I suppose Sid “dives”. more likely, your defense is so affraid that he might score that they are willing to take stupid penalties to try and prevent that from happening.

I'm totally with you here...
I know exactly what it feels like to watch your team play and feel so helpless and frustrated, almost wanting to walk down to the ice and do it yourself, asking yourself why they’re doing this to you…
It was about the same with the Habs in game 2. They were all over the Flyers who were basically just standing aroung looking stupid. Then the Flyers got some really lucky goals (some nice little gifts by Carey Price) and their goaltender was huge that night. Habs were the better team but kind of beat themselves there…
And when it comes to Crosby, oh my… well, they say Penguins can move at their fastest by sliding on their bellies. Seems like Sid wants to proof that…
Rangers can do it, keep believing!! Go Rangers!

BS
Maybe Crosby should take up scuba diving b/c he is a damn good diver. You know you have a problem with diving if Jagr even says something to you. “Stop diving and stay on your feet” -Jagr.
And don’t even get me started on Fleury he is more unsportsmanlike then brodeur and that is a lot. The @% hits people between the legs with his stick, twice in the playoffs now, and no penalty.
I think the league is just trying to let the pens (and crosby) have the cup this year.
The refs are horrible (in every game and every series, for both sides) Open your damn eyes Bettman!!!

Ya Gotta Believe
Great comments and I agree with your feelings.
But now we are back home at MSG and I believe we will see the real Rangers team tonight. The team that played the first 30 minutes of this series. It looked like they all stopped playing, other than Henrik, after the 3 goal lead in game 1. I think playing Ryan Hollweg would help. The fans will get them going and I look for them to come up big.
I want to be singing the goal song all night.
LET’S GO RANGERS !!

Way to go Eddie
I am a HUGE Rangers fan….next to my Ducks they are top of the food chain. Hope to God they get their ass’s in gear tomorrow night and win. This is maddening considering they have the talent. Pittsburgh seems to have forgotten Jagr was their bread and butter. Pitts fans should be ashamed of their selves. I give the officiating an A+ when it comes to Crosby. Little whiner.

Good Comments...
well, i agree the interference penalty shouldn’t have been called, however the Rangers were up 3-0, so it really should not have come down to that. I also think that hooking call yesterday should not have been called. I am glad that the Rangers are playing more offensively, I HATE the defensive trap style, like Jersey plays, it is so boring. I find it kind of funny the audience is booing Jager LOL.
But watch out for Malkin and Crosby, WOW. They are FAST, especially Crosby, who is crazy good at moving horizontally. He reminds me of Gretzky…

wow...
Excellent blog Eddie. You summed up my feelings as well. The only player on the Rangers that seems to have showed up for this round is Henrik. Yea, I don’t know what team I saw in games 1 and 2 but it wasn’t the same Blueshirts from the first round. They better change things up for game 3, be on top of their game as you say or this series is over. Heres hoping for a game 3 celebration.

Yeh
Good call on the games there. The only problem is for the Rangers, is that you say they need to keep the pressure on the Pens in their end and not let a lead slip like game 1, but taking that 3-0 lead is pretty much what ruined the Rangers because it left the game open, they sat back breifly and then the Penguins were back in it, then they went out looking for more goals and the Penguins just ended up with the better offence. The only way the Rangers beat the Penguins is to play the same way as game 2, but HOPE they get the first goal, then keep playing as they were.
