Grew up in Detroit burbs in the 60’s and 70’s. Started watching hockey at the end of Gordie Howe’s time with the Wings. Endured the dead wing era but stuck with ‘em. Enjoyed every minute of Yzerman’s HOF career. I continue to be amazed with Holland and Devellano’s ability to grab talent deep in the draft. There is no other organization in sports that finds so much talent in the late rounds. Islanders never should have let Devallano get away.

Congratulations
I can’t remember seeing such a dominant team being taken to six
I’ve blogged on my take on the finals… ignore the fact I failed to mention Datsyuk throughout (I was tired) and its great. Be interesting to see how the Wings do next year, everyone keeps thinking it will crash and burn and it never does fantastically run organisation easily the best in the league, certainly a far shout from my Leafs… What was it Gretzky once said of the Devils in their early days “mickey mouse franchise?” yep were there!

Congrats!
Wow, what a team they are…they definitely earned everything that they won this year, and congrats to Nicklas for being the first Euro Captain of a Cup-winner! He’s a true class act and totally learned how to win and how to carry himself from Stevie Y. It shows.
Even though a lot of their players are “older” by NHL standards, they’re going to be a fantastic organization because they always draft character players and teach them what they need to know to get the job done.
OK, enough rambling….CONGRATS, & enjoy!
