Here’s hy 411 on Jeff Finger (you must’ve noticed him on my fave players list): He’s not flashy but is a capable two-way D-man. He won’t wow you with bone-crushing checks or picturesque passing from the point, but he’ll eat up a lot of minutes and play “Steady As She Goes” by the Raconteurs night-in, night-out. Whether or not the Leafs overpaid for him is irrelevant to me because 1. The Leafs overpay for all their FA’s, and 2. You have to overpay to get anyone on the open market these days (what has the salary cap solved again exactly?). Plus he’s from the same neck-of-the-woods as me (Houghton, Michigan – home of Michigan Tech!), so us Yoopers gotta stick together.
