Description:
I’ve been a hockey fan since the late 60’s, when I saw the Montreal Canadiens upset the Chicago Blackhawks with rookie Ken Dryden stealing the show. Have been a Sabres fan since their inception into the NHL in 1970. Man, could Gilbert Perreault SKATE! Was a recent college graduate the FIRST time they went to the Stanley Cup Finals vs. Philadelphia in 1975. I’ve been living in Florida since 1988, and followed them with renewed interest when they went to the Finals in 1999 vs. Dallas. Win, lose, or shootout (ugh), I’m always gonna follow the Sabres.

Dang!
That was a long time ago. We’re gettin’ old, my friend. I was a couple years behind you – end of ‘78, W102. We were Chief Tharp’s last company. I don’t remember Terry. Maybe he’d moved on by then.
Mostly I remember it being freaking cold! And all females went to Cape May – so, I was out in Jersey … in November to January. We were the last company before Xmas so we had no sister company – 60 guys and 4 gals. Galley week was hell! Remember, “Eyes in the boat!”

By the way, I meant to ask if you remember who your CC was. We can’t have been too far apart in boot.

Hiya!
Guess what I did on Sunday? I went aboard the Eagle. Yup, that would be the USCGC Eagle – all these years and I’ve only ever seen her from a distance. We had a tall ship parade in San Francisco bay and, of course, the Eagle let the parade. There were some awesome tall ships – got some pix up on my boards if you’re interested.
